What would you say?

I don't have any tattoos. The thought of getting one freaks me out - not so much getting the actual tattoo but being 'that girl' - 'that girl' being the sooky one that curled into the foetal position before the needle came anywhere near her.

The Mr , on the other hand, has many and has plans for more. I think I mentioned when we went away there was a tattoo convention - it is incredible to watch people get tattoos. I had seen the Mr and some other people get some in Australia but in Thailand I finally saw what people were talking about when they said their body is a canvas and the person with the needle is an artist. It got me to thinking - if I could one day leave my fear and neurosis behind - what would I get? I have always loved books and quotes from my favourite books, as well as songs, are all over my home.........so maybe I would get a quote from my all time favourite, read it 300 times, book..........To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. But then again maybe I'll just write them on paper and stick them on my wall......

"They're certainly entitled to think that, and they're entitled to full respect for their opinions... but before I can live with other folks I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience."

"Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mocking bird."

I have 5 tattoos, (they all have some meaning to me and are special to me) I would still like to get one or 2 more, and have a design in mind for one, but I'm not sure where I will go in Adelaide to get one when I do decide.

It is a very individual decision, when I got my first tattoo, you never saw women with tattoos, (now they are everywhere). It is something that I think you really need to think about and plan to make sure you get the tattoo that YOU want.

I don't think the pain is that bad, you forget about it fairly quickly once it is done. You've been through labour so maybe think of it like that if and when you decide to get one.
